How long may I have my children on my insurance?
Your unmarried children may be insured up to age 23.
A dependent, who is incapable of self-support, and who has a disability that was diagnosed before the age of 23, regardless of age, may remain covered as long as the disability continues and the member remains covered on one of the health plans offered through the Employees Benefits Council. Verification of continued disability must be provided upon request.
Note: Dependents age 22 through 25 who had continuous coverage prior to July 1, 2006 and have a valid Student Status Form on file will be allowed to continue coverage until they reach the age of 25 or become ineligible through a change in status (for example: marriage, cease to be qualify as a dependent of the parent under the Internal Revenue Code definitions).
